With subject matter that runs from traditionally inspired landscapes to more experimental representations of people and their environment, Lou Ann explores new applications and techniques in a variety of media to communicate impressions of her subject.  Most recently the greatest percentage of her work is in acrylic and collage.  She finds that the textural and dimensional effects she can create with these media most closely represent the vision she has for her subjects.  Those subjects reflect the strength she finds in nature with a strong emphasis on design.

Lou Ann credits her father, Marc Moon, A.W.S. for her great love of all things art related.  Since she grew up in a household that was steeped in art daily, spent weekends and vacations at art venues, and had the opportunity to be surrounded by many of the great watercolorists of their day, art became a natural part of her being. When she was ten years old her father asked her to be a part of private watercolor classes he had been hired to give to a young granddaughter of patrons.  He found that she had the skills necessary to place her in his adult classes.  She studied with him for years after that until leaving home to attend Kent State University in Ohio.

Her work has been displayed in solo and group exhibitions throughout much of the United States and in Japan and has garnered numerous awards.  She is the owner of the Zimmerman Gallery in Augusta, Georgia since 1996 and has been part of the faculty of the Gertrude Herbert Art Institute, also in Augusta.
